The analogy is explained in three parts:
  1. First, the outlaw eliminates the town’s existing authority. Lytic Infection: The host cell’s DNA is chopped up.
  2. Next, the outlaw demands to be outfitted with new equipment from the local towns people. Lytic Infection Viruses use the host cell to make viral DNA and viral proteins.
  3. Finally, the outlaw forms a gang that leaves the town to attack new communities. Lytic Infection: The host cell bursts, releasing hundreds of virus particles.
