The life cycle of a moss has two main stages:
  1. Fertilization of egg and sperm: It forms zygote which further develops into young sporophyte and gametophyte. This develops into mature sporophyte and gametophyte and produces capsule.
  2. Meiosis: Starts with spores formation when young gametophyte develops into male and female gametophyte. Female gametophyte produces Archegonia while male gametophyte produces Antheridia. Archegonia turns into egg and Antheridia turns into sperm to again start the fertilization and thus cycle continues.
