The picture contains five sections:
  1. Days: The days are shown on the top starting from two to twenty eight in increments of two.
  2. Phase: Three phases are shown.
    1. Follicular phase from day one to twelve.
    2. Ovulation phase from day twelve to sixteen.
    3. Luteal phase from day sixteen to twenty eight.
  3. Hormone levels in the blood: The level of FSH is indicated by red line. The level of estrogen is indicated by blue line. The level of LH is indicated by violet line and the level of progesterone is indicated by green line. FSH decreases gradually during follicular phase and increase a bit during ovulation and reduces again during luteal phase. FSH starts increasing from day 24 of the cycle. LH remains steady and spikes high during ovulation phase and then decreases and remains steady during luteal phase. Estrogen increase gradually and becomes maximum on the 12 day of the cycle and then decreases. Progesterone is high during the luteal phase.
  4. The development of the follicle: The various stage in the development of the follicle are shown. Ovulation occurs on the 14th day and corpus luteum forms after ovulation.
  5. Changes in uterine lining: The detachment of the uterine lining from the walls is observed in the first seven days and then the uterine lining starts to buildup gradually.
