Examples of the three classes of levers.
- Figure A is an example of a first-class lever. A screwdriver is being used to open a can of paint. The screwdriver is being placed at the edge of the can. There is a small diagram attached that shows the fulcrum as the shape of a triangle being in between the input force and output force.
- Figure B is an example of a second-class lever. A man is carrying a wheelbarrow full of leaves. The small diagram shows that the wheelbarrow's output force is located between the input force and the fulcrum.
- Figure C is an example of a third-class lever. A woman standing, using a broom in her hand to sweep off a mat outside the front door of her home. The small diagram shows the input force being located between the fulcrum and the output force.
