• Figure 9A shows a current-carrying wire with a loop in it. The magnetic field in the center forms a circular field around the wire, two small circles, closest to the middle, and two larger circles further out.
  • Figure B shows what would happen if you looped that same wire many times to make a coil. This would create a solenoid. There are eight circles created around the coil, four at the top, four at the bottom.
