• Electrical Energy is generated at the power plant then is stepped up to 11,000 volts by a step-up transformer, then up to 240,000 volts as it travels along high-voltage transmission lines. The voltage is then stepped down to 7200 volts by a step-down transformer, than transmitted to neighborhoods than individual homes.
