  • The satellite images show the four stages of development for a hurricane:
    1. The hurricane is a swirling cloud of rising air.
    2. The hurricane has developed an eye at the center of the swirling cloud by day 3.
    3. The eye of the hurricane is sharply defined, it has reached its greatest intensity, by day 6.
    4. The hurricane starts to weaken as it moves over land.
  • The second diagram on the right shows the structure inside a hurricane. Showing how warm, moist air spirals upward in the eye wall as more air is being drawn continuously into the storm at lower altitudes.
