Different parts of an astronaut's suit:
- Helmet and visor: These parts allow the astronaut to breathe and see while protecting against radiation.
- Communications: A fabric cap supports a set of earphones and a microphone
- In-suit drink bag: This bag contains almost 1 liter of water.
- Control module: This module contains the switches needed to operate the life support systems.
- Electric harness: This harness monitors the astronaut’s vital signs, and allows for communication.
- Pressure bladder: This layer prevents the escape of breathing gases that circulate inside the suit.
- Primary life-support system: This system contains oxygen tanks, water, and a machine that removes carbon dioxide from air in the suit.
- Thermal micrometeoroid garment: This layer provides insulation and protection against micrometeoroids.
- Undergarment: This close-fitting garment contains tubes that circulate water to keep the astronaut cool.
