Do I answer the essay questions as given in the assessments?
YES
Do I do the Portfolios as given in the lessons?
NO - for Algebra 2 & Precalculus
You will be doing custom Projects as given on this website.
Honors Precalculus will do the Honors project as given,
but will submit it according to my custom schedule.
YES - for some for Calculus, and NO for others.
Do I need to include a Check My Work link with my work?
NO

Class Info

How Can I raise my grade?

Submit reworks of ANY question on ANY Test or Quiz at ANY time during the semester. Yes, this includes multiple choice!
Test questions will make the most difference in your grade.
Quick Checks are not eligible for reworks.
Reworks MUST show the work! Write out the solving steps for how to get the corrected answer. You don't need to type these!
Send in by Webmail a picture or copy of your work, and please label it with which assessment and which question(s).
For graph matching questions, you can include a screen shot of the graph using Desmos and tell which key points you used to identify the match.
No, there is no extra credit.

Portfolio Projects

Projects for Algebra 2 and Precalculus will be listed as custom entries at the top of your gradebook for this class.
Projects for Algebra 2 and Precalculus will follow my custom instructions as found on this website. Do NOT do what is given in the course lessons.
Honors Precalculus A: The STEAM Project is a semester long project that is introduced in Unit 1. Please follow the directions as given. However, you will be submitting the sections by Webmail according to my custom schedule.
AP® Calculus: We will be doing some of the Portfolios as given in the course, and some custom projects.

Calculators

You will need a graphing calculator for this class.
An online one is provided for you in your lessons in the "Web Links" section of the Backpack icon. It does both calculations and graphing.
I recommend you bookmark this link: DESMOS

If you choose to also buy a calculator, be sure to read the instructions to learn all that it can do for you!

For Algebra 2 and Precalculus, any calculator labeled "scientific" will be sufficient for calculations, but you will still need Desmos for graphing.
If you go on to take AP® Calculus, you will then want to get one of the approved handheld graphing calculators.

May I use my notes on tests?

Yes! You may use your notes, my notes from this site, and the Desmos graphing calculator when doing your assessments. But, do not use the internet, of course.

The exceptions is AP® Calculus. These assessments (like the AP® exam) are closed book and closed notes, and sometimes closed calculator.

What is the ACT EXAM? AND DO I HAVE TO TAKE IT?

An ACT Exam score is requested by most college applications.
In Nevada, taking this exam (with the Writing section) is a requirement for your high school diploma.
NCA will administer this exam during spring semester to all third year high school students and any seniors who have not taken the exam.
Note: You will not be required to take the SAT exam.
