Prentice Hall Geometry

You can add two vectors by adding their coordinates. You can also show the sum geometrically.

A vector sum can show what happens when vectors occur in sequence, as in the airplane flight described on the previous page.

A vector sum can also show what happens when vectors act at the same time. When you row a boat in water that has a current, you might paddle in a direction different from that of the current.
